What is Matcha?
Matcha is a special green tea that originates from Japanese tea tradition. The term "matcha" translates as "ground tea." What makes matcha special is the way it is cultivated, harvested, and processed. The tea plants for matcha are shaded for about four weeks before harvest to slow leaf growth. This increases the concentration of chlorophyll and amino acids, especially L-theanine.
After harvesting, the leaves are gently steamed, dried, and then ground into a fine powder. Unlike traditional green tea, matcha is consumed not just as an infusion, but as the entire leaf. This results in matcha having a higher concentration of nutrients, including antioxidants such as catechins, than other types of tea.
Tip: Matcha is a great alternative to coffee.

Benefits of Matcha
Matcha is a finely ground green tea powder that's popular not only for its beautiful color but also for its numerous health benefits. The fine, vibrant green powder is very rich in polyphenols. Polyphenols are secondary plant compounds that not only have anti-inflammatory properties but also have a positive effect on the immune system and can protect cells from oxidative stress.
Another advantage of matcha over coffee is that it is often easier to digest. Due to its low acidity, matcha can be a gentle alternative for people who are sensitive to coffee. While matcha contains more caffeine than coffee, its effects are more gentle. The caffeine in coffee enters the bloodstream very quickly and can put the body under stress. The caffeine in matcha is absorbed much more slowly, and its effects last up to eight hours.
Matcha is also rich in L-theanine, an amino acid known for its calming effects. Unlike coffee, which is often associated with nervous side effects, the L-theanine in matcha promotes a gentle stimulation that leads to increased alertness and concentration without the usual side effects of jitters or restlessness.
Quality guarantee
Our organic matcha has a ceremonial quality. This means that the leaves used were from the first spring harvest. These are characterized by their particularly mild flavor and vibrant green color.
The leaves are hand-picked, gently steamed, and then finely ground with a stone. Since matcha is not a protected term and simply translates as "ground tea," there are many different qualities. A distinction is made between ceremonial, premium, and cooking quality. Ceremonial quality is the highest quality of matcha available.
Our matcha has also been tested for heavy metals and pesticides, so you can drink it with a clear conscience. You can view the lab test report here .
