What is Ashwagandha powder?
Ashwagandha powder is made from the dried and gently ground roots of the Ashwagandha plant, also known in India as "sleep berry" or "Indian ginseng." The root is valued for its adaptogenic properties, as it supports the body and mind in adapting to stress and finding inner peace. The traditional cultivation and natural drying process preserve the raw food quality.
The plant consists of berries, leaves, and roots. We use only the roots for our powder. After harvesting, which is traditionally done by hand, the roots are first sorted, removing any unsuitable parts. The roots are then thoroughly cleaned to remove residues such as soil and other contaminants. The next step is drying: The roots are gently dried and then finely ground at temperatures below 40 degrees Celsius to preserve the valuable ingredients.
The benefits of Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha is particularly valuable for its bioactive compounds, such as alkaloids and withanolides, which are responsible for the plant's adaptogenic properties. It provides valuable minerals and phytochemicals and supports well-being during stressful times.
Ashwagandha holds special significance in Ayurvedic teachings. It is classified as a "rasayana," meaning "rejuvenating agent," and is traditionally used to promote vitality and longevity. Ashwagandha is considered to balance the Vata and Kapha doshas and helps correct an imbalance in these two energy principles.
During stressful times, it supports the body and mind and contributes to inner peace and balance. Ayurvedic tradition also uses Ashwagandha to promote restful sleep and as a gentle support for the nervous system.
Our tip: In the evening before going to bed, add 1 teaspoon of Ashwagandha powder with a little cinnamon and honey to a warm plant milk and enjoy it as Moon Milk
